The White House of the U.S. Joe Biden administration has ordered intelligence authorities to re-examine the origins of COVID-19 ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

The Washington Post reported on the 17th that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan asked the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which oversees U.S. intelligence, to set up a panel of outside experts to review the results of existing investigations into COVID-19.

"We continue to conduct a thorough analysis and look forward to working with a panel of outside experts to improve the quality of our work," a spokesperson for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said.

The debate over the origins of COVID-19 in the U.S. has a strong partisan nature, with Democrats under Biden largely agreeing with scientists who analyzed that the virus has spread from animals to humans and that the first place where the infection occurred would be Wuhan, China.

However, Republicans and other scientists, including Trump, claim that the virus may have leaked from an accident in a Chinese laboratory.President

Joe Biden directed intelligence officials to review existing data in 2021, but there were also disagreements among intelligence officials.

The Department of Energy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the FBI assessed that the virus leaked while studying the dangerous virus in Wuhan.

However, four other intelligence agencies and the National Intelligence Panel favored the theory that it was spread through animals.
