Speaking to reporters at JFK Airport in New York, Chung said he expected Trump Jr., Trump's eldest son, to invite him to his inauguration and introduce key figures from the second administration.
He also said he doesn't know if he will meet with Trump this time, but he thinks South Korea will overcome the crisis, saying he hopes the U.S. window will improve quickly and people in responsible positions will meet Trump.
Chairman Chung said that during the last meeting at Mar-a-Lago, Trump showed interest in South Korea, asked various questions, and only talked about business other than political and diplomatic issues such as tariffs.
He then explained that it would be better if he served as a bridge between the two countries as a businessman and added to the national interest, and that it is important to create various channels in the big market of the United States as a businessman.
Chairman Chung said he had been with Trump Jr. for two years and that they seemed to get close quickly because they had similar interests and beliefs.
He also added that since we are in a relationship where we talk and meet without hesitation, we will continue to meet and think about what we can do together.
