Breaking News U.S. Government Confident of South Korea's Democratic Resilience in Arresting President Yoon

Regarding Yoon Suk Yeol's arrest, the U.S. government expressed its position that "we have confidence in the democratic resilience of the Republic of Korea and its people."

In response to YTN's inquiries about Yoon's arrest, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, "We reaffirm the fact that everyone should respect the rule of law."

He also said, "I highly appreciate the Republic of Korea and all the efforts of the Korean people to act in accordance with the Constitution," and emphasized, "The United States is firmly supporting the Korean people."

"We promise to cooperate with Acting President Choi Sang-mok and the South Korean government," he said.

"The South Korea-U.S. alliance remains strong," Miller said, adding that he reaffirms the U.S. commitment to defending the Republic of Korea.
