When President Yoon Suk Yeol was arrested, Japanese media reported in unison in breaking news and are closely monitoring the situation afterward.
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba declined to directly comment on President Yoon's arrest, calling it South Korea's internal affairs, but stressed that the importance of Korea-Japan relations remains unchanged.

NHK addressed the news of Yoon Suk Yeol's arrest in the first order of the morning news, saying it was the first time in South Korea that a sitting president had been arrested.
In an online article, the Asahi Shimbun detailed the barrage of some diehard supporters, along with the issuance of an arrest warrant for President Yoon.
The newspaper said supporters who broke into the street rioted by breaking windows at the court. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun also explained that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit will investigate President Yoon's alleged leadership of civil war in earnest in the future.
It was then analyzed that it was an unusual development for the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial and the investigation authorities to investigate allegations of civil war to proceed at the same time.
In the meantime, Ishiba said he could not comment on South Korea's internal affairs.
However, he said that Korea-Japan relations improved dramatically during President Yoon's time, and that he felt good like former Prime Minister Obuchi in the past.
He then emphasized that he wants to make sure that the importance of Korea-Japan relations does not change no matter what kind of government there is in Korea.
It is the same as the Japanese government's position on the day President Yoon was arrested.
[Yoshimasa Hayashi / Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary (15th): South Korea is an important neighbor to Japan as a partner in dealing with various international issues. I believe the importance of Korea-Japan relations remains the same in the current strategic environment.]
Yoshihiko Noda, the leader of Japan's largest opposition Democratic Party, also said he would take responsibility for improving relations between Korea and Japan.
