Lee Jae-myung "Congratulations on Trump's inauguration...We need to prepare countermeasures for America's priority."

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, congratulated U.S. President Trump on his inauguration and said he should prepare countermeasures against changes brought about by U.S. priority in the trade sector.

Representative Lee said at the Supreme Council that new challenges and opportunities are expected to coexist in North Korea's denuclearization, peace on the Korean Peninsula, the Russia-Ukraine war and U.S.-China relations.

He then pointed out that a diplomatic, security, and trade strategy should be prepared based on the strong South Korea-U.S. alliance, and that the government and the National Assembly should wisely move through the wave of great transformation in a practical and flexible manner.

He also stressed that he would cooperate bipartisanly in restoring the people's livelihood by using all necessary means, including a supplementary budget, as political instability in Korea has led to the economy.
