CNN reported on the 19th that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has instructed his aides to schedule a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin within days of taking office.

According to CNN, Trump's national security team has reportedly begun coordinating a call between Putin and Trump weeks ago.

It is not yet clear whether a specific date has been set for the call, but CNN says a call between the two leaders is expected soon after taking office.

The main purpose of the upcoming currency is to coordinate the summit to focus on the exit strategy of the war in Ukraine.

Earlier, Mike Waltz, the next White House national security adviser, also appeared on ABC on the 12th and said he was preparing for a meeting between Trump and Putin, adding, "We expect a phone call in at least a few days or weeks."

President-elect Trump has mentioned the "early end of the war" through talks with Putin, saying he would end the war in Ukraine within a day of his inauguration.

When the second Trump administration is officially launched, the U.S. and Russian governments are expected to begin to coordinate the schedule of the summit, which focuses on the exit strategy of the war in Ukraine.

Trump's side has said that coordination with Russia has already begun, but Russia has been cautious, saying that official preparations will begin after the second Trump administration is launched.

CNN said Switzerland and Serbia are currently hoping to host the U.S.-Russia summit in their own countries.
