In 1793, a demonstration was held in downtown Paris in memory of Louis XVI, who was executed by the guillotine during the French Revolution.

BFM TV reported that hundreds of royalists gathered to march through downtown Paris with torches on the evening of the 18th local time.

The participants held a portrait of King Louis XVI and a flag with the symbol of the Bourbon family, the lily, and chanted slogans such as "Long live the king" and "Down with the republic."

These marches have been taking place in recent years around the day of the death of Louis XVI, who was beheaded on January 21, 1793.

In addition, the Louis XVI Memorial Association, linked to the far-right royalist group "French Action," hosted the event, BFM TV said.

In a related development, Raphael Arnault, a member of the left-wing party Unsubjugated France, sarcastically said on social media, "Right-wing extremists marched down the streets of Paris in a KKK way," adding, "Everything works well in the country of Macron and Le Pen."
