The National Institute of Environmental Research has issued emergency reduction measures for high concentrations of fine dust for the first time this winter in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam region, where high concentrations are expected.
'High concentration fine dust emergency reduction measures' are imposed when the average concentration of ultrafine dust exceeds 50μg (microgram) on the day and the same level of 'high concentration' is expected the next day.If emergency reduction measures for
high concentration of fine dust are taken, a two-day system for vehicles in public institutions will be implemented from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and shorter operating hours of air emission workplaces and construction sites and schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers will be recommended to close or shorten classes.
The temperature this morning in Seoul will be -1 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees higher than usual, and the daytime temperature will be 8 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees higher than usual.
