British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says Britain faces a new kind of terrorist threat that is different from that of extremist organizations and needs to be responded to.

In a speech to the nation on the 21st local time, Starmer said in July last year that he faced new threats, such as extreme violence by loners or misfits with access to all kinds of materials online, and by young people hiding in his room.

He stressed that the incident should be an opportunity for the UK to make fundamental changes in the way it protects its citizens, and that it will review the overall counterterrorism system and legislate if necessary.

He also said he would conduct a thorough fact-finding investigation into the Southport case.

Earlier in July last year, 18-year-old Axel Ludacubana was accused of killing three children and attempting to kill 10 people in a dance class in Southport, northwest England.
