Trump asked "take over Musk TikTok" and said "it's open if you want"

U.S. President Donald Trump has said Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk can allow it if he wants to buy China's ByteDance-owned video platform TikTok.

Asked at a press conference on artificial intelligence infrastructure held at the White House on the 21st local time if he was open to Musk's acquisition of TikTok, Trump replied, "I'm open if he wants to."

Earlier, TikTok's service in the U.S. was temporarily suspended because its Chinese parent company ByteDance did not sell TikTok's business rights in the U.S. until the 19th, when the U.S. anti-TikTok law designated it.

However, shortly after taking office, President Trump issued an executive order suspending the TikTok ban for 75 days, predicting that he could sell it to a third party and continue the service.

In response, President Trump said he would give business rights in the U.S. if someone bought TikTok and gave half of his stake to the U.S.

Asked if Russian President Putin would impose additional sanctions if he did not engage in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, Trump also replied, "It is very likely."

At the same time, NATO members have repeated their previous claims that defense spending should be increased to 5% of the size of the economy.
