As the worst smog continued for three days, emergency reduction measures for fine dust have been expanded in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong and Honam areas.

With high concentrations of fine dust continuing across the country today, the air strike of fine dust is expected to continue until the day after tomorrow.

Reporter Kim Min-kyung, the air quality is very bad again today, but emergency reduction measures have been expanded compared to yesterday?

Yes, following the metropolitan area and Chungnam, emergency reduction measures for high-concentration fine dust have been extended to Yeongseo, Gangwon-do, Chungbuk, Sejong, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk today.

In this area, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., public institutions will have a two-part vehicle system, restrictions on the operation of class 5 vehicles, and reduce the operating hours of air emission workplaces and construction sites.

While dust has been accumulated due to atmospheric congestion for three days, air quality across the country is very bad today as additional smog from China has entered from dawn along with fog.

Currently, ultrafine dust warnings are being issued in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, North Jeolla and North Gyeongsang provinces, and the concentration of ultrafine dust in Gyeonggi and North Chungcheong Province is "very bad" and "bad" in the whole country except Jeju.

In particular, the concentration of ultrafine dust per hour is around 80μg per cubic meter in the Midwest, which is three times higher than usual.

The concentration of ultra-fine dust will gradually decrease starting today, but it will affect tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and will be resolved by the east wind on the weekend.

As air pollution lasts for a long time, the elderly and children should refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible, and wear health masks of KF80 or higher when forced to go out.
