Fireworks soar from the top floor of the hotel.
The fire brigade has arrived, but the flames are spreading.
The fire broke out at the ski resort's 12-story hotel in Volu, northwest of Turkiye, at around 3:30 a.m. local time.
[Atacan Yelkovan / Ski Resort Guest: It took about an hour, an hour and a half for the fire truck to arrive. By then, both the fourth and fifth floors had already burned, and the people upstairs were screaming.]
The flames spread helplessly, and those who were lucky enough to escape were forced to stamp their feet when they saw the isolated.
Of the 230 guests who came on vacation, 70 died and 50 were injured.
[Omer Sakrak / Witness: A friend jumped from the 11th floor. I pray for God's mercy. I tried to come down with a bed sheet, but the sheet ripped, and unfortunately it fell headfirst.]
The exterior material of the building is wood, so the fire seems to have spread faster, local media reported.
The fire, which took 10 hours to extinguish, is believed to have started in a hotel restaurant.
Authorities in Turkiye, which set up a special investigation team, arrested nine people, including hotel owners, and President Erdogan Turkiye declared a day of national mourning.
