As early prices soared ahead of Chuseok, the government took measures.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said the price of yellow corvina and dried corvina is somewhat higher due to early Chuseok, adding that it is increasing the supply of yellow corvina by another 10 tons to release 160 tons to the market.

In addition, starting this week, the discount rate for yellow corvina has been increased from 50% to up to 60%, mainly in large supermarkets.

According to data from the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, the price of a yellow corvina was 1,508 won as of yesterday, 23% more expensive than last year's Chuseok week.

Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Ji-hyung visited the Noryangjin Fish Market in Seoul today to check the prices and consumption trends of fisheries products.
