South Korea has decided to work with the U.S. and Japanese governments to find out what is behind North Korea's illegal cyber activities.

The president's office said Wang Yoon-jong, the third deputy director of the National Security Office, Anne Neuberger, a National Security Advisor to the US NSC Cyber and New Technology, and Keiichi Ichigawa, the deputy director of the Japanese National Security Agency, held a video conference on the 27th.

Representatives of the three countries assessed that illegal cyber activities, which are the source of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs, are becoming more sophisticated and virtual asset exchanges around the world are the main targets of attacks.

In order to strengthen deterrence against North Korea's illegal cyber activities, similar countries such as South Korea, the U.S. and Japan agreed to jointly identify the background and actively pursue necessary measures.

The president's office added that representatives of the three countries agreed on the need to raise awareness of North Korea's cyber threats to the private sector, including virtual asset service providers, and strengthen public-private partnerships.
