Health and Welfare Minister Cho Kyu-hong told a briefing on the progress of medical reform today that the medical community and the government should put their heads together as soon as possible for local and essential medical care in a crisis situation.
"The important thing is to restore trust between legislatures," he said, adding that if the medical community participates in the dialogue without setting preconditions or prior agendas, the government will also do its best to break down distrust in the past in a more open manner.
However, Minister Cho explained that it is impossible to re-discuss the change in the government's position regarding the increase in medical schools in 2025, which the medical community has demanded so far, because the university entrance process for next year has already begun.
