Prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was accused of teaching false testimony to trial witnesses.

The prosecution asked the court to sentence Lee to three years in prison at his final hearing held this afternoon (30th).

The prosecution said the issue is very heavy, saying Lee repeatedly lied about the key influencing voters' rational judgment and created fake witnesses to cover it up.

In addition, CEO Lee added that he is denigrating the prosecution's legitimate investigation, let alone reflecting on the case, even though he has already been punished for the same criminal record, including innocent crimes.

On the other hand, CEO Lee maintained his position that he was not a perjury teacher, saying that he had no choice but to admit the so-called "prosecutor impersonation case," but that he still thinks it is unfair.

In December 2018, CEO Lee was indicted on charges of calling Kim Jin-sung, a former secretary for the late Seongnam Mayor Kim Byung-ryang, several times and asking him to perjure himself in a trial on charges of publishing false information related to the "prosecutor impersonation case."

Kim confessed to all the charges at the trial, but CEO Lee denied the charges, saying he only asked him to testify as he remembered, and that the prosecution only compiled the favorable part of the transcript.
