The U.S. has decided to send thousands of additional U.S. troops to the Middle East, as Israel has informed the U.S. of its plans to enter a limited ground war against Hezbollah.

U.S. Defense Department deputy spokesman Sabrina Singh confirmed the policy during a regular briefing.

If additional troops are deployed, the size of the U.S. military in the Middle East, which is currently around 40,000, is said to be up to 43,000.

The additional troops reportedly included flight battalions and support personnel, including F-15E, F-16, and F-22 fighter jets.

Earlier, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced the extension of the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier fleet's presence in the Middle East.

Harry Truman's carrier fleet, which departed from Virginia to Europe last week, will also travel to the Mediterranean Sea, which will result in the deployment of two carrier fleets in the Middle East.

Bloomberg predicted that Hezbollah could intensify its missile attacks on Israel if Israel enters ground war.
