The death toll from hurlin, the super-hurricane that hit the southeastern United States last week, topped 200, making it the second-most-victimized hurricane after Katrina in the last 50 years.

Six states, including Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, where Hurlin swept, reported 201 confirmed deaths, with more than half of the deaths in North Carolina, AFP reported.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in the crippled state, and the death toll is expected to rise further as many residents remain missing.

The most casualties of hurricanes that have hit the U.S. mainland in the last 50 years were Katrina in 2005, which killed 1,392 people in total.President

Joe Biden visited hurricane-hit areas of Florida and Georgia for the second day in a row, consoling the families of the victims and promising early recovery assistance to the victims.
