Hezbollah "killed 17 Israeli soldiers at the border"

Lebanon's pro-Iranian militant Hezbollah claimed on the 3rd local time that it had killed 17 Israeli troops.

According to Xinhua, Lebanese army and Hezbollah sources said that after about 10 hours of fighting, Hezbollah was able to prevent Israeli forces from advancing towards the towns of Odaise and Kapr Kila in southern Lebanon.

About 50 Israeli troops crossed the border between Israel and Lebanon and shelling and airstrikes continued targeting several towns in the region, the sources added.

The Israeli military has yet to comment on the clashes, Xinhua said.

Earlier on the 2nd, the Israeli military said eight people were killed in a ground operation in Lebanon.
