Have you heard of "The Day of Serving"?

It is said that it is the day when subordinates serve meals to the manager or director in turn in the civil service organization.

I knew more than 7 out of 10 government officials, a 'day of service' that felt unfamiliar to the general public.

Rep. Wi Sung-gon of the Democratic Party of Korea surveyed 12,000 public officials from local governments across the country last month, and 75.2% said they knew.

I think it's a practice that's existed in the past, but more than half of the respondents said they've experienced it in the past year, and it's still prevalent.

Most of the respondents answered that it was held every week even though it was tolerable, saying that it was only once.

80% of the respondents said it was held once or twice a week, and 7.7% said it was held more than five times a week.

In some cases, the head of the department paid for the meal, but more than half answered that the members walked at their own expense,
Some even answered that
is an expedient use of finances.

As a result, nearly 70% of the respondents said, "We don't need a day to serve."

Many civil servants complained of their grievances, saying, "It's not the right time," and "It's a financial burden."

Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min agreed that it is a practice that should be eradicated quickly in the public office. Let's listen to it.

[Lee Sang-min / Minister of Public Administration and Security (Yesterday): It's a very heartbreaking story, and I know that there are not many such practices in the central government, but there are still some left in the provinces. I think it should be eradicated as soon as possible. (Government officials should be able to live with hope. Would it be okay for those who are seniors to rip off their juniors?) I agree with 120% of what you said.]
