Recently, there have been a series of robberies in Tokyo and other metropolitan areas where only the elderly live.

It seems that the method of gathering people to act on behalf of the crime was also used on social media.

Correspondent Kim Se-ho's report from Tokyo.

[Reporter]
Two masked gunmen broke into a house where a husband in his 80s and an elderly couple in their 70s lived.

The gunmen tied the couple's hands and feet and stole 9 million yen in cash and ran away.

[Neighborhood resident] Nothing strange happened around here, but I was really surprised.]

The wife in her 70s was seriously injured, including a broken rib.

[Victim Relatives: The two couples were always at home. It's a shock. I can't believe this ridiculous situation.

Since the end of August, this type of crime has been committed in the metropolitan area, including Tokyo and Saitama.

Since mid-September, there have been five robberies targeting houses where the elderly live.

Police have investigated about 10 people caught so far, all of whom were found to have been ordered by someone.

The possibility of a "Yami Baito" so-called "part-time job in the dark" that acts on behalf of crimes after watching the recruitment of SNS crimes is weighed.

Those who applied for the crime were mainly in their teens and 20s who were tempted to make a lot of money easily.

They are not familiar with the crime, so they show characteristics such as rushing to break windows, breaking locks, and attempting to break in.

The Japanese National Police Agency has formed a regional investigation team with local police to pursue the main culprit, but the whereabouts are unknown.

Similar incidents are likely to extend to the region, leaving security officials on edge.
