North Korea issued a statement saying South Korea had infiltrated drones into Pyongyang and sprayed propaganda leaflets, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff said it could not confirm the facts about the North's claims.

North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a "major statement" this evening claiming that South Korea violated drones over Jung-gu Station in Pyongyang at the late hours of the 3rd, 9th, and 10th and carried out an outrageous act of spraying propaganda.

He added that the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the military have begun preparing to respond to any difficult situation, saying that the Republic of Korea's provocation is a serious political and military provocation that should be retaliated according to the right to self-defense.

In response, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said it could not confirm the facts about the North's claims and warned that the North is responsible for the latest series of events, including the provision of trash balloons.

He added that he strongly urged North Korea not to act rashly and to be cautious, stressing that the South Korean military will sternly and desperately retaliate if it threatens the safety of our people in any form.

Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said he never did so when asked about it at the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's parliamentary audit, and mentioned that he would check the situation.
