The vice foreign ministers of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan have decided to hold a conference in Seoul to discuss ways to cooperate with the three countries on North Korea and other issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that First Vice Minister Kim Hong-kyun will hold the 14th Foreign Minister's Council with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Japan's Deputy Foreign Minister Masataka Okano, who will visit Korea on the 16th.

At the meeting, the three countries are expected to discuss the possibility of North Korea's provocations around next month's U.S. presidential election, along with tensions sparked by North Korea's recent claim of "South Korea's infiltration into Pyongyang."

In addition, the establishment of a cooperative secretariat, which is being pursued by the three countries, Korea, the U.S. and Japan, and the three-way summit, which will take place next month, are expected to be addressed together.
