High-sensitivity tactile electronic skin has been developed that can be attached to the skin and control drones with a finger touch.

Unlike before, electrical wiring has been installed outside the sensor to increase durability enough to operate normally even if some of the sensors are damaged.

Flexible and stretchy electronic skin.

When you write after putting electronic skin around your arm, the writing appears clearly on the large screen.

This time, it's a small drone.

When you press the electronic skin on your arm, the drone slowly comes up.

If you move your finger slightly to the right, you can follow it and rotate 360 degrees.

It is thanks to a high-sensitivity tactile sensor that allows you to write or control drones by hand pressing electronic skin.

The tactile sensor reads the difference in electrical resistance caused by minute pressure changes when the finger is moved.

[Kim Kyu-bin / Yonsei University Ph.D. student (first author): Mechanical deformation of the conductor narrows the space where current can flow and increases resistance. The basic principle is to reverse the increase in resistance and find out that there has been this much mechanical deformation.]

Existing tactile electronic skin is vulnerable to physical damage and the manufacturing process was complicated by integrating sensors and wiring in the same area.

The newly developed high-sensitivity tactile electronic skin works normally even if some of the sensors are torn.

This is because the entire system operates because wiring does not break even if some of the wiring is damaged by placing wiring outside the sensor.

[Yoo Ki-jun / Yonsei University Professor: Even if the wiring is placed outside and some of the conductors inside are damaged, it is not unreasonable for us to recognize the voltage change through the wiring.] {Tactile electronic skin that can be easily controlled by pressing the skin around the arms of

It is still in its infancy, but it is expected that it will be widely applied to various fields such as robot control and AR and VR in the future.
