Hyundai Motor launches first EV SUV to be produced in India next year

Hyundai Motor will launch its first EV SUV model produced at an Indian plant early next year in the local market.

The Crete EV, scheduled to be launched next year, is an electric vehicle model of the Crete, Hyundai's first strategic SUV in India, launched in 2015.

For the third consecutive month since its launch, the Creta has been the top monthly seller among all SUVs in India and was named India's Car of the Year in 2016.

Hyundai will deploy five EV models by 2030 to dominate the EV market in India.

Previously, Hyundai Motor established mid- to long-term strategies such as building a 1 million-unit production system and an electric ecosystem to continue strong sales in India.
