Choi Chang-min, chairman of the emergency committee, called on the government to immediately withdraw the revision of the enforcement ordinance to neutralize the Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation and to approve legitimate leave of absence for medical students.
He also warned that if the autonomy and professionalism of medical schools are ignored, the same will happen to other colleges, saying the government is forcing medical students to return to school next year.
At the same time, the emergency committee argued that in order to normalize medical school education even now, 3,058 students should be selected for the 2025 school year, and the increase in the number of students should be decided after discussions between legislatures from the 26th school year.
