Yesterday, 70 buildings burned as a fire at an industrial machinery manufacturing plant in Wanggil-dong, Incheon, spread to a nearby factory by the wind.

Right now, on-site inspection is underway.

I'll connect with a reporter to find out what the situation is like on the spot. Reporter Yoon Taein!

How is the situation at the scene of the damage?

[Reporter]
It's been 18 hours since the lights went out, but the burnt smell is choking me.

This is where there is a company about 260m away from the factory where the fire first started.

However, as the fire spread to this place, if you look at the building, only the iron structure is left, so it looks skinny.

If you look at the collapsed, curved buildings, warehouses, and materials that have been turned into ashes, you can't say that this was a grocery store.

I was able to confirm that the truck and other vehicles parked in front of the building burned black.

Due to yesterday's fire, employees of the industrial complex here still say they feel dizzy when they think about it.

Let's hear from the employees of nearby companies.

[Neighborhood company employee: I could see the fire rising from the factory ventilator. It was very windy that day. I was so scared because it moved quickly in the direction of the wind.]

At around 8:40 a.m. yesterday morning, a machine manufacturing plant in Wanggil-dong Industrial Complex, Incheon, caught fire.

The fire was all extinguished in 11 hours, and 36 factories and 70 buildings burned as the fire spread by the wind.

The damage seems to have increased as factories are attached to industrial complexes and most of them are made of flammable materials such as sandwich panels.

How is the on-site inspection going?

[Reporter]
Here at the scene, officials wearing safety gear can be seen looking around.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Scientific Investigation Team has been conducting a joint inspection with about 10 officials, including the National Forensic Service, since 10:30 a.m. today.

Police are focusing on what caused the fire to first start at an industrial machine manufacturing plant and how it spread to its surroundings.

In addition, most of the factories that caught fire were burned down, and factory equipment and materials were often not recovered, causing severe damage to business owners.

The Seo-gu Office of Incheon operates the Disaster Integration Support Headquarters and is aware of the damage to companies such as lost goods and employees.

Based on this, we will form a countermeasure headquarters with the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to discuss ways to support affected companies.

So far, I'm YTN Yoon Tae-in at the fire site of the factory in Wanggil-dong, Incheon.
