The Seoul National University Hospital Children's Cancer and Rare Diseases Support Project held a meeting today (21st) to look back on the achievements of the Lee Kun-hee Children's Cancer and Rare Diseases Overcoming Project, which began in 2021.Medical staff, patients, families, and donors who participated in projects to overcome childhood cancer and rare diseases gathered together as part of the 4th anniversary of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee
Through the Childhood Cancer and Rare Disease Overcoming Project, 1,504 medical staff have worked with 202 medical institutions nationwide since 2021, with a total of 9,500 diagnosed and 3,892 treated.
The pediatric cancer and rare disease overcoming project has completed the construction of a research infrastructure worth 150 billion won, and plans to invest an additional 150 billion won in establishing a high-tech treatment platform and joint cohort research in the future.
In this event, videos of the patients' journey have been screened, and paintings and messages of support drawn by young patients have also been displayed, gaining sympathy from many people.
