On the 21st, Sungshin Women's University Professor Seo Kyung-duk said that this happened at the Japanese booth of the travel fair "Travel Show 2024" held at COEX in Seoul from the 4th to the 6th.Professor
Seo explained, "I found out because the tourists reported it," adding, "One netizen provided the map he received at the venue himself."
This map is known to have been produced by the Japanese Government Tourism Bureau (JNTO). Dokdo was written as 'Takeshima Island' and Japanese territory, while 'Donghae', the name of the sea between Korea and Japan, was introduced as 'Sea of Japan'.
Professor Seo said, "There is no problem with Japan promoting tourism at the travel fair, but it is a clear territorial provocation to provide such a map," and stressed, "Our government should also strongly protest to prevent the map produced by the Japanese Government Tourism Bureau from spreading around the world."
He added, "The organizers of the event must also pay more attention in the future to prevent this from happening again in Korea."
