President Costin announced his resignation shortly after a government meeting was held on the 22nd local time regarding allegations that prosecutors and other government officials avoided military service by pretending to be disabled.
Ukrainian media recently reported that 50 prosecutors in western Kmelnytsky had registered as disabled.
Kostin said the investigation found 61 prosecutors registered as disabled in the area, 50 of whom were registered before the war.
However, he said the reason why the proportion of people with disabilities is so high should be identified.
Kostin took office in July 2022 and has led Russia's war crimes investigation.
