At a meeting of the National Police Commission on the 21st, the National Police Agency deliberated and decided on a partial amendment to the enforcement regulations of the Road Traffic Act, which allows electric vehicles to be placed at the driver's license test site.
The move is aimed at increasing the introduction of eco-friendly cars and reflecting the increase in the number of electric vehicle drivers, and when the amendment is implemented, applicants will be randomly assigned electric cars and internal combustion engines.
As for the functional test scoring standard, if the engine rotates above 4,000 RPM, the deduction standard cannot be applied to electric vehicles without engines, so in the case of electric vehicles, points are deducted when the emergency braking system is operated.
Until now, only internal combustion engine vehicles have been used at license testing sites, but in particular, most of the 1-ton trucks used for type 1 license tests used discontinued diesel models, making it difficult to replace them.
Police believe the revision will increase drivers' adaptability to electric vehicles.
