The NIS surveillance network held a press conference today (23rd) in the conference room of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Nine members of the Korean University Student Progressive Union and the Candlelight Victory Transition Action will participate in the lawsuit, and the amount charged is as little as 5 million won and as much as 20 million won per person.
They explained that the NIS inspected people who frequently attend government criticism meetings with vague suspicion that they might have been linked to North Korea ahead of the general election, and that they would officially try to determine whether it was a normal security investigation activity or illegal activity through lawsuits.
Earlier, the Candlelight Action accused an NIS employee of violating the National Intelligence Service Act, saying that he had inspected Kim Min-woong, CEO of Candlelight Action, on his mobile phone, but the police decided not to send it, believing that it was a procedural problem.
