At least 30 people were killed when Israeli forces struck northern Gaza, according to local Palestinian media.

More than five civilian homes were targeted by the bombing on the 26th local time, and many of the casualties were identified as women and children.

After a two-day search of the Jabaliya Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, the Israeli military also detained 44 of its 70 medics, Reuters reported.

In a related development, the Israeli military said it "conducted operations based on information that there were terrorist facilities in the area" and "supported patient evacuation operations prior to starting operations."

The Israeli military also said it had expanded its humanitarian zone in the Almawa city area of Canunis in southern Gaza, setting up field hospitals, evacuee tents and providing food, water and medicine.
