Fair Trade Commission Examines Reservation Platform...Correcting 121 unfair terms and conditions
Photo and real-world problem platform accountability first case
These days, when autumn leaves are in season, many people reserve campsites through various reservation platforms.
When you go there, you often see a mess because it's different from the picture you posted.
In the future, the reservation platform should also take some responsibility for managing campsite photos.
Lee Seung-eun reports.

"The picture was bright, but the bathroom was full of mold and bugs." Unlike the picture, there was no table in the old facility."
I'm so often deceived that I can hardly believe the photos of the campsite now.
[Victim who used the campsite different from the picture: The stove was old, so there was a hole in it. / The refrigerator and floorboards didn't seem to have been cleaned. I can't find another alternative, and I ruined my trip anyway.]
According to a survey of campsite reservation platform users conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency, 46% said the photos or descriptions were different from those posted.
Including that the penalty explanation was also different, more than 7 out of 10 said the actual situation was different from the information posted on the platform.
As a result, the Fair Trade Commission reviewed the terms and conditions of six camping sites and natural recreation forest reservation platforms and discovered 121 unfair terms and conditions.
There were also terms and conditions that could not be canceled or refunded even if the picture or description was different from the actual one, or if there was a problem with the facility, or even if parking was not possible.
I mean, I'm just an intermediary.
The FTC made sure that the platform was regularly guided to ensure that photos or explanations were kept up to date while fixing the terms and conditions in question, and that the platform was held accountable if it was intentional or negligent.
This is the first case in which the brokerage platform's responsibility is specified in the terms and conditions for parts that differ from photographs.
As a result, there is a basis for holding the platform accountable in the event of a dispute.
[Shin Yong-ho / Special Transaction Director, Fair Trade Commission: Consumers recognize and choose the information through photos, and the platform seems to be very directly involved. I think there is a high risk of consumer damage, especially because it is difficult to cancel the transaction by going to the place on the same day.
The FTC said it expects the revised terms and conditions to spread to individual campsites as well as to pensions and hotels.
