The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption investigation team yesterday (4th) handed over Pyeongtaek Mayor Jang Jung-sun, who is suspected of taking bribes from a third party, to the prosecution without detention.

In the process of promoting the Pyeongtaek Eco Center business, Mayor Chung is accused of urging a subsidiary of Company A, who was in charge of operating the center, to sign a service contract with B, a close aide who worked in his campaign.

The police also handed over A company officials and B to the prosecution on charges of providing bribes or assisting in third-party bribery.

Earlier in June last year, the police forcibly investigated Pyeongtaek City Hall and Pyeongtaek Eco Center.
