Japan's Fuji Mountain "Late First Snow"... "The Lateest Observation in 130 Years"

Due to Japan's abnormal high temperature phenomenon, the first snow was observed at Mt. Fuji for the latest time in its 130-year observation history.

NHK said an employee of the Yamanashi Prefecture Meteorological Observatory, 40 kilometers from the top of Mount Fuji, observed the snow on Mount Fuji with the naked eye at around 6 a.m. today.

On a normal basis, the first snow observation period of Mt. Fuji is on October 2, but it has been delayed for more than a month this year due to abnormal high temperatures.

Last month, the average temperature near the top of Mt. Fuji was 1.6 degrees Celsius, about 3 degrees higher than usual.

Earlier, Kyodo News reported yesterday that snow on the top of Mount Fuji was confirmed in Shizuoka Prefecture, but no snow was observed in Yamanashi Prefecture due to clouds.
