Lim Se-jin, head of the prosecution division at the Ministry of Justice, expressed his resignation to the Ministry of Justice shortly after the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's Budget Settlement Fund Review Subcommittee cut 50.7 billion won in special expenses.
In a phone call with YTN, Lim explained that he submitted his resignation because he felt helpless that it would be difficult to continue his duties.
At the same time, he raised his voice, saying that the surprise cut of the investigation budget without requiring proper data submission is no different from not investigating.
Earlier, the subcommittee on the budget of the National Assembly Judiciary Committee decided to cut 8 billion won in special activity expenses for the prosecution and 50.7 billion won in specific work expenses reflected in next year's government budget.
Specific work expenses are budgets used by the prosecution to support various investigations and investigations, including monthly activity expenses received by investigators and rank-and-file prosecutors.
