The night-time search for the missing crew of the Venus ship that sank off Jeju Island has been completed.

Unfortunately, we couldn't find the missing people.

The Coast Guard plans to expand its scope to continue the search for missing people.Reporter

classic!

You didn't find anyone missing?

[Reporter]
Yes, it is.

The Coast Guard conducted a night-time search for 12 missing crew members of the Geumseong ship, which sank off the coast of Jeju Island, to no avail.

About 50 ships, including the Coast Guard, Navy, and civilian fishing boats, and five aircraft were deployed for the night search.

We tried to find the missing people with more than 230 rounds of fire, but we couldn't find them.

As soon as the sun rises, the Coast Guard has expanded its search range to 37km wide and 19km long to search for missing people.

Today's weekly search will involve about 50 ships and nine aircraft.

According to the drift prediction system, the search operation is continued in anticipation of where the missing people would have been washed away.

The underwater search continues today following yesterday.

The hull and fishing net are connected, and the hull is near 85 meters deep, making it difficult to search.

About 20 divers from the Coast Guard were deployed in the area of the accident. The navy

has also dispatched warships necessary for diving.

About 10 private deep-sea divers will be deployed from tomorrow at the earliest.

It will arrive in the area of the accident with a crane barge for lifting the Venus.

On land, more than 400 public-private troops also plan to search the coast using drones.

Sailors say the ship suddenly flipped over, but is there anything about the cause of the Venus accident?

[Reporter]
Yes, along with the search, the Coast Guard is also working on identifying the cause of the accident.

The Coast Guard completed its first investigation of 13 rescued sailors yesterday.

The Venus ferry moved the catch to the first carrier and suddenly flipped to the right of the ship while waiting for the second carrier.

The Coast Guard is working to find out what caused the loss of resilience based on statements from rescue crews.

Sailors who were rescued yesterday said in an interview with YTN that the ship could not bear the weight of the catch and seemed to have been in an accident.

Let's listen to the interview of the rescued Indonesian crew.

The Coast Guard will brief the Jeju Provincial Coast Guard on the search plan and the cause of the accident at 10 a.m. today.

So far, I'm Ko Jae-hyung of YTN at the Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency.
