In the midst of the full-fledged kimchi-making season, large supermarkets are offering a series of autumn cabbages that cost less than 2,000 won per head, and the price of kimchi is stabilizing.

According to data from the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, the average retail price of a cabbage peaked at 9,963 won on September 27 and then began to fall to 3,919 won on the 8th.

The price of autumn cabbage fell below 2,000 won as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs provided a 20% government discount on all kimchi ingredients and distributors added a 20% discount by the 4th of next month.

An official at a large discount store explained that prices will continue to fall until next month due to the gradual increase in autumn cabbage shipments and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's discount support.

In addition, the prices of red pepper powder, green onions, onions, and ginger, which are major kimchi ingredients, have also fallen slightly compared to last year, and supply and demand are good.
