Supreme Court Judicial Policy Advisory Committee "Improves Trial Method to Prevent Prolongation"

The Supreme Court's Judicial Policy Advisory Committee held its sixth meeting today (13th) afternoon and suggested to Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae that the trial should be reasonably improved to prevent prolonged trials.

The Judicial Policy Advisory Committee said that the prolonged trial should improve problems such as difficulty in forming a trial and increasing litigation costs, and that procedures such as applying for evidence, interrogating witnesses, and investigating documents should be operated reasonably to implement a quick trial.

He also added that after the accused is indicted, an environment should be prepared to quickly read and copy the prosecution's evidence, and that it is desirable to ease the requirements for non-attendance trials when they do not appear without justifiable reasons.

In addition, regarding the civil suit appeal, he suggested that it is necessary to prevent prolonged hearings due to delays in investigating evidence, and that it is necessary to come up with a focused hearing plan centered on the reasons for appeal.

The Judicial Policy Advisory Committee is a judicial advisory body based on the Court Organization Act, which deliberates on the agenda presented by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and suggests the results to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
