Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon said today (15th) that "about 50 public institutions and private companies will introduce a 4.5-day week system next year," adding, "The focus of the Gyeonggi provincial government is on humanomics (people-centered economy) that invests more in people and provides more opportunities."

Governor Kim held a "Gyeonggi-do Labor-Management Civilian Council" at Seohee Hall, involving 14 members of the Labor-Management Council, including Kim Yeon-pung, chairman of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, Kim Chun-ho, chairman of the Gyeonggi Employers Federation, and Noh Gil-joon, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Labor Relations Commission, and signed a joint declaration to cooperate to spread a work-life balance culture and improve productivity by shortening working hours.

Governor Kim said, "Now, people should be at the center of the economy to be sustainable and increase efficiency and productivity in the long run," adding, "There is a balance between work and life in introducing a 4.5-day weekly pilot system in about 50 public institutions and private companies next year, but it also means improving productivity."

"In addition, the problem of career disconnection is serious, so we run a job 0.5 & 0.75 job business without career disconnection," he said. "These two projects are the first in Korea."
