It is known as the first case of applying for industrial accident due to lung cancer among the cooking practitioners in charge of actual cooking in Jeju.
The Jeju branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' National Education and Public Transport Workers' Union said that a 55-year-old cook with 14 years of experience applied for industrial accident after being confirmed as the first stage of lung cancer last month.
The union said A was exposed to "cooking fumes," a carcinogen that comes out when cooking with hot oil for a long time, and demanded the creation of a safe working environment, such as acknowledging industrial accidents and improving ventilation in the cafeteria.
The nutritionist, who was diagnosed with lung cancer for the first time in the province among school meal workers last year, is filing a lawsuit because he was denied industrial accident recognition due to low exposure to cooking fumes because he did not cook himself.
