Four out of 10 young people in their 20s in Korea think they can have children without getting married.

According to the results of the "2024 Social Survey" by the National Statistical Office, 42.8% of the respondents said that so-called "unmarried childbirth" is possible among young people aged 20 to 29 this year.

This is a 12.5% increase compared to 30.3% a decade ago.The number of respondents who completely oppose

's 'unmarried childbirth' stood at 22.2% this year, down 12.7%p from a decade ago.

Last year, the number of non-marriage births was counted as 9,900, or 4.7% of all births, the highest since related statistics were compiled.
