President Yoon Suk Yeol returned home this morning (21st) after completing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and the G20 summit.
During the eight-day multilateral meeting, President Yoon repeatedly criticized Russia's illegal military cooperation with North Korea and held bilateral meetings with major countries such as China, the United States, and Japan to discuss ways to cooperate.
[Yoon Suk Yeol / President (last 16th): I hope that both Korea and China will cooperate in promoting stability and peace in the region in response to the military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.]
There are difficult tasks ahead of President Yoon who returned to Korea.
The biggest challenge is the appointment of individuals, including the prime minister.
As the presidential office continues its behind-the-scenes personnel verification, both inside and outside the political circle predict that the prime minister and ministers who have served more than two years in office will be the main targets.
In order to link the rebound in approval ratings to the driving force of state affairs in the second half of his administration, there are many expectations that a double-digit mid-range reshuffle will be carried out.
Considering the National Assembly's review of next year's budget plan, it is highly likely that the cabinet reshuffle will be around the middle of next month.
The replacement of the presidential staff is expected to proceed in conjunction with the cabinet reshuffle, and the possibility of some of the senior secretaries' staff moving to the ministerial level is also mentioned.
Prior to the cabinet reshuffle, next week is expected to be an important inflection point for the future political situation.
Representative Lee Jae-myung's first trial on the perjury teacher case is expected to exercise his right to demand a reconsideration of the Kim Gun-hee independent counsel law on the 25th, the next day on the 26th, and the independent counsel law will be re-voting at the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 28th.
President Yoon Suk Yeol has called for "overcoming polarization" as a national task in the second half of his term in office.
The direction of public sentiment next week is expected to be the biggest variable in the implementation of policy tasks in the future as well as the individual selection plan.
