New Speaker Omar Yuhra tried to hold her first parliament on Monday local time, but lawmakers supporting former President Evo Morales flocked to the podium to block her from taking office.
Chairman Yuhra is classified as a family of current President Arce.
Current President Luis Arce and former President Morales are both members of the Socialist Movement Party, but they are in deep conflict over their presidential bid next year.
Bolivia's Constitutional Court ruled last month that former President Morales was ineligible to run for president.
