Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il asked the government to compare and evaluate the economic feasibility of GTX Plus and Gyeonggi Southern Railway.

Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il, who has criticized Governor Kim Dong-yeon for being behind the Gyeonggi Southern Railway in the province's national railway network project priority proposed by Gyeonggi Province to the central government, sent a letter to Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Park Sang-woo, demanding that "the cost-benefit (B/C) of the "three GTX-Plus" and the "Gyeonggi Southern Railway Project" be evaluated in a cold manner."

The three GTX-Plus projects (new GTX G·H route, extension of C route) are focused projects promoted by Governor Kim Dong-yeon, and the Gyeonggi Southern Railway (Seoul Sports Complex Station to Suseo Station)Seongnam Pangyo-Yongin Shinbong-dong, Seongbok-dong, Suwon Gwanggyo-Hwaseong Bongdam) project is jointly promoted by Yongin-si, Seongnam-si, Suwon-si, and Hwaseong-si.

Mayor Lee said the province proposed three GTX-plus projects as the province's top priority, asking the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to reflect them in the "5th National Railway Network Construction Plan," and that the Gyeonggi Southern Railway Project was placed in the lower ranks.

Mayor Lee said, "The Gyeonggi Southern Railway spent 5.2 trillion won to benefit 1.38 million people, and the B/C value was 1.2 in the four city joint services," adding, "The answer to which of the three GTX-Plus projects or the Gyeonggi Southern Railway, which will benefit 490,000 people at a cost of 12.3 trillion won, is obvious."

Earlier, Mayor Lee criticized Governor Kim for the same content in the "2024 Gyeonggi-do-city/county policy meeting" held at the provincial government on the 11th and in a statement on the 20th, and requested the disclosure of the B/C value of the GTX-plus project.
