The family said in a statement that Ms. Tinniswood died in a nursing home in northwest England and was surrounded by music and love on her final day.
Tinniswood was born in Liverpool in 1912, the year the Titanic sank, and became the world's oldest man since the death of a 114-year-old man from Venezuela in April.
Tinniswood said the secret to living a long life is "purely lucky," but advised that you must abstain from everything in order to stay healthy.
Currently, the world's oldest and oldest woman is Tomiko Itooka of Japan, who is 116 years old.
