The same sentence came out in the second trial for Kim, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the first trial for wielding a weapon against Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The Busan High Court's Criminal Division 2 sentenced Kim to 15 years in prison for attempted murder and violating the Public Official Election Act.

The court said, "Kim committed a planned crime by antagonizing the victim due to differences in political views, tried to inform the outside world of voices advocating legitimacy, and hid his belongings that could be evidence, and the judgment of the court below is fully accepted."

He also added, "Kim submitted a letter of apology and sent an apology to the victim, but it seems that he has not been forgiven so far."

Kim wielded a weapon to injure Lee, who visited the new airport in Gadeok-do, Busan, on January 2, and prosecutors handed him over to trial on charges of attempted murder and violating the Public Official Election Act, saying Kim intended to kill and intended to interfere with his election bid.
