The prosecution asked the court to sentence Chairman Hong to six months in prison and a fine of 14.54 million won in the first trial of violating the anti-graft law held at the Seoul Central District Court today (29th).
Chairman Hong was indicted in October 2019 on charges of borrowing 5 billion won from Kim in the name of his spouse and son and then paying back only the principal in January of the following year.
Chairman Hong is a person named as a party to the so-called "Daejang-dong 5 Billion Club" that legal professionals, politicians, and journalists received large amounts of money or were promised to lobby from Daejang-dong, including Kim and lawyer Nam Wook.
The court decided to hold a first trial hearing on Chairman Hong on January 8 next year.
