High school official arrested and charged with sexual assault seven years ago

A public official caught seven years after committing a sexual assault crime has been put on trial in custody.

The Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office arrested and indicted A, an educational administrative official in his 30s who is suspected of special rape last month.

A is accused of committing sexual assault with an accomplice at a festival site in Incheon in September 2017.

It remained an unsolved case without finding the criminal at the time, but Dulmi was caught last year when an accomplice committed another sex crime in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do.

The police confirmed that the accomplice's DNA was consistent with what they had secured at the scene at the time of the 2017 incident, and later secured a statement from the accomplice that he had committed the crime with A.

Mr. A was found to have worked as an administrative official at a girls' high school in Gyeonggi-do until just before his arrest.
